About Camp Burton

Vashon Island Sewing Retreats have been held at Camp Burton on Vashon Island since our inception in fall of 1985. Camp Burton provides a relaxing combination of Northwest Rustic and the essentials of modern conveniences. Lodging choices range from cozy cabins nestled in the tall fir woods to the new Retreat Center rooms with private baths. The Sewing Lodges are spacious and well lit. The Dining Hall has a fabulous view of the water where moods change with the fluxations in the weather and time of day. The Camp Chef prepares time and taste tested meals with options available to suit many different dietary needs. Retreaters also enjoy hiking the pebbled paths to the lodges, or around the peninsula loop road, or down to the salt water beach.

About Camp Huston

In 2016, Stitching Girls discovered Camp Huston in Goldbar where other sewing/quilting groups have frequently held retreats. They squeezed us into an open weekend for our summer Members Only Weekend Retreat, which has since turned into another annual event. The cool shadey setting of the Conference Center offers spectacular views of forest and mountains. We sleep in clusters of rooms with 2 twin beds in each and shared bathrooms. We sew in the same building in a tall ceiling space with a wall of windows for good natural light. Camp Huston spoils us with their home style cooking for many different dietary needs.
